All spectrum of radio come together for children

Bhopal/ Online session was conducted by School of Journalism and Mass Communication Devi Ahilaya University, Indore and UNICEF, MP. Speakers included Vikas Awasthi, Programming Head, MYFM, Bhopal, Pinki Tiwari, Station head of Lake City Voice of Jagran Lake City University, Jitendar Kumar of Radio Sironj from Vidisha, Vaishali of Radio Time of Sagar district, RJ Teena, MY FM and Dr Sonalee Nargunde. Head of Department of SJMC, DAVV Indore.

Speaking at meet Vikas Awasthi spoke about how they were able to talk about COVID19 precautions, to show people the world outside home but asking them to stay at home and do programming from work from home environment. He also talked about the efforts of MY FM in engaging people at home. Pinki Tiwari, Station Head of Lake City Voice spoke on the programming they did while at home, which seemed initially quite challenging but they could deliver and do programmes for children and people, provide information in simple manner, and give space to voices of people, which was needed.

Jitendar Kumar, of Radio Sironj shared on the programmes they did for agriculture farmers, responding to their queries and how they also convey the preventive measures of COVID19 in Sironj  area in Vidisha district of Madhya Pradesh. Vaishali of Radio Time of Sagar district, said about challenges in adapting to COVID19 and conveying messages of facemask, social distancing and talking about the things which people listening to their station wanted to listen to in Sagar.

RJ Teena, of MYFM in Bhopal shared her experience of various programmes which were done by MYFM to engage the audience in Bhopal as they stay at home, talk about warriors and deliver in these challenging times when they were at home.

Dr Sonalee Nargunde said that sharing like this is important, helps bring the fraternity together, will help draw a way forward for a joint campaign and also helps students to learn from the experience of professionals.

Anil Gulati, Communication Specialist, UNICEF, Madhya Pradesh spoke on how important it is to listen to these stories and plan for way forward how radio can come together, for children issues in this ‘new normal ‘.

Shefali Chaturvedi moderated the show, and interacted with speakers to get their experiences and she said that this effort of work with Radio by UNICEF is encouraging and helps bring Radio Station together and is fascinating to listen to stories of the RJ and programming heads.

Participants spoke on the possible way forward and ideas where all spectrum of radio can come together for children issues. Around 80 participants from Bhopal, Indore, Sagar, and Vidisha had joined in the meet.
